Experience the Sahara with Nomads

September 10th to 17rd, 2025

About the trip

Join me for an unforgettable trekking adventure, walking side by side with desert nomads in the heart of the Sahara. More than just a journey, this is a chance to step into their world, where the rhythm of life follows the sun, and wisdom is passed down through generations.

With each step, you’ll learn from them: how to navigate the dunes, read the desert’s secrets, and embrace the simplicity of a life in harmony with nature. Evenings will be spent under a blanket of stars, sharing stories around the fire, as the silence of the Sahara reveals its magic.

This trek is open to a small group of 5 to 6 people max, ensuring an intimate and authentic experience.

Our journey

Day 1

Day 2

Day 3

Day 4

Arrival in Ouarzazate and transfer to our hotel. Time to rest, settle in, and prepare for the adventure ahead. Overnight at the hotel.

M’Hamid, Gateway to the Sahara

Departure in the morning towards M’Hamid, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Along the way, we stop in the Drâa Valley to admire breathtaking landscapes of palm groves, kasbahs, and desert villages.

In the late afternoon, we explore the local villages and ancient kasbahs before ending the day with a magical sunset at the oasis, where palm trees meet the sand dunes. Dinner and overnight in a local guesthouse with our Sahara team.

First Steps into the Desert & Erg Zahar

After breakfast, we begin our desert adventure on foot. At sunrise, we walk through dunes dotted with old tamarisk trees, gradually reaching open terrain and a vast dried-up lake. From there, we arrive at the spectacular Erg Zahar, also known as the Howling or Screaming Dunes. These dunes are famous for their unique shapes, colors, and natural sounds, creating a powerful sense of infinity and connection with the desert. Dinner and overnight in the Sahara bivouac, in a tent or under the stars.

Crossing the Drâa Valley & Nomadic Lands

Today, we cross the Drâa Valley to its eastern bank, passing ancient dried trees and wide open landscapes.

We continue toward Lbour, a rural area once used as nomadic farmland and grazing land for camel herds. We stop to give water to the camels and rest under a quiet tamarisk tree.

In the late afternoon, we resume walking through white dunes with mountain views, discovering a completely new desert atmosphere.

Later, we visit local nomads, share tea, and learn about their way of life. Overnight under the stars.

Day 5

Nomadic Life Experience

Today is dedicated to spending time with the nomadic community.

We learn more about their culture and traditions, including how to make traditional sand bread, and share moments of daily life together.

In the afternoon, we return to the guesthouse for the night.

Day 6

After breakfast, we depart back to Ouarzazate.

On the way, we stop in Tamgrout, famous for its traditional pottery houses and local craftsmanship.

Arrival in Ouarzazate and overnight at the hotel.

Day 7

The journey comes to an end, but the memories will last a lifetime.
After days of adventure, breathtaking landscapes, and meaningful encounters, it’s time to say goodbye.
